Welcome to Team Quadzilla!

old Quadzilla

What is Quadzilla? Thanks for asking. Quadzilla was a nickname I had back in the late 90’s when I was racing mountain bikes and logging serious miles on my bikes. Evidently I exhibited inordinately toned and strong legs (or quads) that reminded some people of the fire breathing science fiction monster known as Godzilla. Thinking the name was clever, I created the buff lizard riding a bike to be the logo for my race team that never materialized.

The team battle cry was, “Eat right. Pray. Ride fast.”

Today Team Quadzilla is matured and refined to represent more than just strong legs. Quadzilla is my personal brand for my healthy living passion which is focused on 4 (Quad) key areas. You might notice that the 4 areas are distinguished with a unique shade of green on the “Q” shield in the new logo.

FAITH: Being a Christ follower is what matters most to me. I recognize that I can serve Him best when I’m living a healthy, balanced and disciplined lifestyle. I do not apologize for my beliefs, nor do I intend to force them on anyone. If following someone who desires (though fails often) to live a balanced, purposeful, focused, disciplined, and faithful life offends you, then this might not be the place for you. However, I’m willing to bet that whether or not you trust Jesus with your eternity you will find encouragement for your life journey here.
-FAMILY: I believe healthy living is a family affair. I started working on myself before my family caught on. Now they appreciate more healthy living habits, whether it’s nutrition, exercise, or taking care of their mind and soul. Truth is, they often teach me about being healthy in all areas of my life. With unified values, priorities, and purpose we are able to sharpen each other. It’s a beautiful thing! Being healthy as a family binds us together, reduces sickness, and helps make our home happy.
-FITNESS: As a middle aged working professional and family man, I am experiencing the many incredible benefits of having physical fitness become habit in my lifestyle. Let’s face it; I’m not as young as I used to be, but I feel much younger than my age! I owe it all to a disciplined and action oriented mindset with the help of some incredible workout programs, education, and resources that I share with you on this site.
I love helping people find the physical activity they can enjoy as part of their healthy lifestyle. Need to drop a few LB’s, increase your strength & flexibility, a marathon, 5k, or triathlon training plan, or a kick in the pants to get moving? If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, I’m your guy.
I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you that the biggest transformation in my healthy living journey came in the area of nutrition. I’m not a nutritionist or dietitian, but I do know a few things about eating a clean, healthy, balanced diet whether your goals are maintenance, weight loss, or endurance race training. I enjoy sharing nutrition resources, recipes, and helping people make healthy nutrition choices part of their lifestyle.

-FORTITUDE: This might seem like a strange word along side the other 3 that make up the 4 quadrants of Team Quadzilla. Fortitude means courage, bravery, endurance, resilience, mettle, moral fiber, strength of mind, strength of character, strong-mindedness, backbone, spirit, steadfastness, and grit. All are words that fit the key part of Quadzilla that pertains to the heart and soul of a person.

One thing I know for sure- our mindset needs to be right BEFORE we will find true success in any area of life whether it be in our physical fitness/ health, our profession, our relationships, and our roles as spouse, parent, boss, worker, friend, athlete, etc. I love reading and studying influencers in personal development and striving to apply what I learn to my life to make me a better human. I share what I’m learning with you here and hope you find encouragement from it.
